Passeggiata

Austin and Paul met through Polimoda Fashion School in Florence, Italy. They became the best of friends after many passeggiatas and meals at local trattorias. Their friendship turned into a working relationship as their shared passion for clothing and luxury craftsmanship inspired them to start their own women’s tailoring business, Passeggiata.

Austin and Paul got in touch with me to create a brand design that would encapsulate the Mediterranean way of life and exude the reverie of languid evening strolls through a charming, old Italian town. I was tasked with visual identity as well as collateral designs (print and digital), and digital oversight.

Sadly, Paul and Austin decided to go their separate ways in 2023 and the Passeggiata adventure came to an end. Arrivederci !

Make it stand out

What is a passeggiata? In Italy, passeggiata has deep cultural roots and is a time-honored tradition. Most evenings, when the work day is over and the sun begins to wane, Italians everywhere – from large metropolises to small villages – set out for a slow and gentle stroll, or passeggiata, about town. A typical passeggiata will see you through the pedestrian zones in the centro storico (historic center), or along the lungomare (boardwalk) if you’re by the sea. More than just a stroll, the passeggiata is the most important social event of the day and a chance to fare una bella figura (make a good impression).

At Passeggiata, the values – People, Product, and Planet – are the cornerstone of everything they do. They are so central to the brand’s identity that it was essential to them to carve these values in stone by representing them in their product’s logo. This is how the logomark became a cartouche composed of the following symbols: the sun, the arch, the rosemary. The logotype features Dorothea, a font that is modern yet has classical roots. Dorothea’s main characteristic is its gently flared strokes, which are reminiscent of the remains of a Latin inscription on Roman ruins.

The warmth of the Mediterranean sun,
reflected in the culture, is a unifying force and represents our commitment to people. Passeggiata is an authentic reflection of the personalities of the people behind the product.

The arch is a structural element of the Mediterranean aesthetic and represents the commitment to product. The arch’s design and construction make it a solid foundation that can withstand the test of time.

The rosemary represents the commitment to the planet. Rosemary is Passeggiata’s constant reminder to always make the sustainable and environmentally conscious choice throughout operations.
